After establishing and completing a LinkedIn profile, the next step is to build your network. Connecting to the right people, groups, and business will help establish your credibility and will help market your capabilities. Search the LinkedIn network to find others that will valuable assets to your network and that will also inform you of other valuable connections and groups. First and foremost, connect with your most valuable networks. Upload your contacts from your email and connect with them if they have an established LinkedIn profile. Your most trusted connections could be of the greatest use to your network. After connecting with those through web mail, add former colleagues and classmates to your network. These connections with also be connected to other acquaintances or individuals that could be of great importance to your network. They will also be associated with other groups and associations that may not be uncovered unless you connect with them. Ways of finding these connections and groups are available to those with established profiles.

Peruse the Network. If connections do not surface right off the bat, browse the network for acquaintances, friends, and family. If found, add those individuals first to create a base of connections. Once they are added, work from there. Utilize the "Advanced Search" Option Use the advanced search option to locate others and potential connections. The more connections that are made through LinkedIn the better your network will be and the better the chance of accessing a job and showcasing your experiences.

Join Groups that You Target. Follow/Scan your connections' pages and locate the various groups that they are a part of. If they are of your interest and more importantly of interest to your target, become a part of the group. More often than not, the groups discuss things of importance and that are relevant to the business. By following the group, you can gain inside knowledge into the company and what they are aiming for. Save the Search, Implement an Alert Instead of searching for various individuals, implement the alert setting to your profile. This feature of LinkedIn will alert you of connections each week, instead of manually searching for those individuals. This feature will save you time that can be spent elsewhere. Follow Various Updates and Interactions. Stay afloat of your networks interactions and edits.

Follow what they are posting and what changes they are making to their own profiles. It is best to stay on top of these things to ensure the best use of LinkedIn and to also stay aware of what the companies and doing. This type of upkeep will better assist your use of LinkedIn and will make it that much more beneficial to your professional profile. Consistently editing and updating your profile will keep you at the top of the professional profiles and of the various searches that are done on LinkedIn. When establishing a profile, be sure to fully complete it, add everything necessary, and use strong keywords that will generate search results.
